What's it like seeing a female chiropractor?
16 July 2026 · Dr Houda Chafic
If you'd feel more comfortable seeing a female chiropractor, you're not alone — and at Prestons Injury Therapy you can request one. I'm Dr Houda Chafic, and this is a quick, honest guide to what that looks like, so you know exactly what to expect before you book.
Why do some women prefer a female chiropractor?
For many women it simply feels more comfortable to be treated by a woman — whether for personal, modesty or cultural reasons. That comfort matters: when you feel at ease, it's easier to relax, explain what's really bothering you, and get the most out of your treatment. You should never feel you have to "put up with" a setting that doesn't feel right.
What does a chiropractor actually treat?
Chiropractic care focuses on the spine, joints and the muscles around them. Women commonly see me for:
- Lower back and neck pain
- Tension headaches
- Posture problems — including from desk work or carrying children
- Sciatica and nerve-related pain
- Pregnancy-related back and pelvic discomfort
- Everyday aches, stiffness and strains
What happens at your first appointment?
Your first visit is mostly about understanding you. I'll ask about your history and what you're feeling, carry out a careful assessment of how you move, and explain what I think is going on and the options to treat it — in plain language, before anything else happens.
Treatment is always tailored and gentle. If you'd prefer a lighter touch, I have low-force options, and I'll check in with you throughout. You're in control of your care at every step.
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
Gentle chiropractic care is commonly used to ease pregnancy-related back and pelvic discomfort and to support posture as your body changes. I tailor every treatment to your stage of pregnancy and your comfort — so if you're pregnant or recently had a baby, just let me know your history when you book and I'll adjust my approach accordingly.
